Building on its strong heritage, Volkswagen has refined the iconic GTI to make this year's version a worthy successor to the hallowed mantel. Sporty performance is what the GTI was - and is - all about. The GTI is equipped with an ideal power source to carry on that tradition. The 2.0-liter FSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine incorporates maintenance free hydraulic lifters for smooth, worry-free operation.

The 2.0T engine cranks out 200 horsepower at 5,100 rpm. Combined with a standard six-speed transmission, it accelerates the 2008 GTI from 0-60 miles per hour in 7.2 seconds and to a top speed electronically limited to 130 mph.
